The project
An agency sends new year greetings. X-PRIME chose to send a game instead. Wishmaster asked one question, "Did this annoy you this year?", scrolled through a gallery of objects, then left a single instruction on screen: "Take revenge!"
The rest came down to one gesture: hit the object as fast as you can, score and timer on screen, all staged like a photo studio where the lights, stands and cables had been left in frame. I handled the iOS development, on the agency's art direction. The constraint is what I remember: a new year campaign cannot slip, the release date was 31 December.
What the app did
- A scrollable gallery of objects, on the theme of what annoyed you during the year
- Hit the object as fast as you can, with score and timer on screen
- A photo-studio staging, with lights and cables left in frame
- Three entries from the home screen: the game, sharing and a video
- Promotional banners on the OpenFeint gaming network
What this project says
The ability to ship a complete game on a new year campaign schedule, on someone else's art direction, with no option to move the date.
